Heather and Jim Cherrey: After a career as an R.N., working in Ob/,GYN, Heather earned a Masters of Divinity Degree. Ordination in the UCC started her second career. She served churches in the Bergen County doing interim ministry as well as stated pastoral work. She is certified as a Bereavement Facilitator and also as a Domestic Violence Crisis Responder. She has served as member of the Dumont Drug and Alcohol Alliance of Dumont, Juvenile Justice member, as well as being active with Jim in the InterReligious Fellowship for the Homeless from its inception. She is Mom to four great kids and grandma to seven amazing grandchildren. Heather keeps busy reading, doing needle work, knitting prayer shawls and doing jigsaw puzzles, as well as keeping up with friends and family.
Jim graduated from Trenton State and Montclair State with degrees in teaching Industrial Arts and Supervision. He taught in the Dumont Public School System for almost 40 years until retiring. He also coached football and track during his time there. Summers would find him working as a carpenter, roofing and siding contractor, cabinetmaker, machinist, printer and included a stint as program director at Forestburg Scout Reservation. Jim was active in the community serving as a Cub Scout Leader and Scoutmaster for many years (he is himself an Eagle Scout). He enjoys Sudoko puzzles, cryptograms and attending classes at the Institute for Learning in Retirement, where he also teaches a cribbage class. He shares the great kids and amazing grandkids with Heather.
