Montclair resident Roger Sedarat and his wife Janette are Iranian-Americans and the proud parents of Milo, 7 and Theo, 5. Roger works at Queens College where he is Associate Chair of the English Department, teaching literary translation, creative writing and American literature. He is also an award-winning poet, the author of two critically acclaimed volumes of poetry, “Dear Regime: Letter to the Islamic Republic” and “Ghazal Games.” He has also published academic work, and is working on two forthcoming books. Roger and Janette met 18 years ago in Austin, Texas and quickly discovered that not only did they share a common Iranian heritage, but her father and Roger’s uncle went to elementary school together back in Iran.
Milo and Theo like FCC because of the fun kids’ class and the cakes after service! Roger, who comes from a Sufi tradition, is attracted to FCC because he likes the spirituality in Ann Ralosky’s teachings. Roger has a twinkle in his eye and a fast, cheerful smile. He is also partial to yoga and pilates.
