Marriage Equality Walk June 23, 2012

Garden State Equality hosted a Marriage Equality walk this year, designed to raise awareness and funding to override Governor Christie’s veto of Marriage Equality rights in New Jersey.  FCC Montclair submitted a team, and took the walk by storm!  We had 29 registered walkers, we were the top fundraising team of all teams entered, and we raised over $6,300.

While our team enjoyed some very generous, larger pledges, most of the donations we received were $50 and under.  Which means we received a LOT of donations… and a lot of votes of confidence!  There is a wave of momentum behind the campaign for the rights of same-sex couples, and FCC is proud to be at the forefront.  We’re thrilled at the amazing turnout for this event, and so grateful to all the folks who signed up to walk and donated to this cause.

The rally beforehand featured speeches by several prominent figures in the Equality movement, including U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg, and our own Rev. Ann!

The walkers followed a two and a half mile route through Montclair, and received a lot of support from motorists and pedestrians.
